Little Vines ELC has been developed in partnership with The Gums Childcare Centre and Vineyard Lutheran School. Little Vines ELC offers the very best in Early Learning education with an integrated, play centered program based on the world recognised
Reggio Emilia philosophy and practice.
Our small class size with a maximum of 33 children provides an intimate family atmosphere that enables educators to offer children developmentally appropriate experiences that support and enhance their learning. Through regular activities with Vineyard school staff and in the school itself, Little Vines ELC children become familiar with a primary school setting and its expectations.
The Little Vines ELC Specialist Program includes:
A specialist teacher takes the ELC group for weekly Physical Education lessons incorporating a Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) that aims to develop the child’s perceptions and understandings of him/her self and his/her world through movement and motor experiences. The specialist PE teacher assists in the development of physical activities in the daily ELC program.
The library program introduces children to a range of authors and literary genres. Children learn to predict events, understand sequence, and develop story-telling abilities. The borrowing program encourages children to extend their love of books.
Vineyard School offers German as its LOTE language. Weekly German lessons are delivered by a specialist language teacher at the school. This is supported by the introduction of German language through the daily ELC program.
Each term the ELC are assigned to a different class from Vineyard. We choose a unit that we will engage in together. The activities usually go for 5-6 weeks and have included: Ipad movie making, gardening, Sports, bush block, Drama and Story reading together. Our students LOVE this time together and strong friendships have been formed. This interaction benefits both groups of students and is a highlight!
