Coding for Kids - why do it?

Why code?

Coding is telling a computer how to complete tasks. Anyone can code, all it requires is a creative mind and have a go attitude.

As our children grow they look to a future full of unimagined technologies. Coding not only enables them to become digitally literate it encourages computational thinking.

2014 is the Year of the Code.

Digital literacy is now a major part of the United Kingdom school curriculum.

As part of our commitment to future technologies Vineyard Lutheran School will embrace Coding, Mrs Kriewaldt will teach this integral subject from Foundation to Year 7 from Term 2, 2014.

The students will then be able to utilise this skill in other subjects, offering another avenue to demonstrate their learning.
